Wilkinson Homestead Museum consists of the original 1912 homestead, a Machinery Shed, replica washhouse and dunny. There is also a large restoration workshop on site. The original homestead and Machinery Shed are display and storage spaces for the City of Gosnells’ collection of textiles, agricultural machinery, a 1927 Essex motor car, domestic equipment, furniture, historic photographs and paintings significant to the area’s local history. The replica buildings reflect life in earlier times and are used to present education programs to primary school aged children.
The original homestead was the home to three generations of the Wilkinson family who ran a large citrus orchard on the property from the early to mid-twentieth century. The park adjacent to the property was the location of the orchard. The house is located on the banks of the Canning River and is State Heritage listed.
